The U.S. Department of Transportation received $1.3 million additional funds for EV highway chargers, which will help fund 13 more 13 more fast-charge electrical vehicle charging stations.
There will be a total of 22 charging stations when the project is completed.

Fred Meyer is planning to add several Charging Stations to various Fred Meyer locations around the Portland metropolitan area. They are working with ECOtality Inc.
The exciting thing about this is that 6 DC Fast Chargers will be installed in East Salem, Tualatin, Tigard, Sunset, Sandy and Salmon Creek locations. One DC Fast Charger and one Level 2 will be installed at each location. In addition, two Level 2 chargers will be installed at Oregon City, Mill Plain and Gateway stores. Installation is expected by the end of summer 2012.
The chargers will be Blink charging stations. The DC Fast Chargers will be CHAdeMO connectors that charge at 480 volts, and can charge vehicles to 80% in 30 minutes.
There is currently one DC Quick Charger at the Fred Meyer in the Hollywod District, but it’s uptime hasn’t been that great so far.

Fred Meyer adding EV chargers at I-5 corridor stores
On March 30th, Portland Trail Blazers President Larry Miller, Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber and Mark Walter, president of Christenson Electric announce 10 charging stations in the Rose Quarter.
There are 10 Level 2 Blink Chargers. To incentivize usage, charging will be free for the first 90 days and the parking will be free (waiving the $8 to $15 parking fee) for a limited time.
The stations are installed as a part of the EV Project.
